However it’s important to keep in mind that your electricity contract will be with a retail electricity provider as that is required to secure the best market rate. Canceling this service will be subject to the terms and conditions of your contract.

Some fixed plans turn into variable plans which charge a higher rate after the first or second month. We have also seen some plans have hidden fees which are much higher than the advertised electricity rate. In fact most of our members find us when they notice increases to their energy bills.
The Energy Professor always reads the fine print and makes sure you are being signed up for the best electricity plan possible with NO hidden fees.
The Energy Professor will need the following information from new members:
- Full Legal Name and Contact Information
- Service Address
- Date of Birth
- Credit Card Information
We will also need your utility account number or a copy of your most recent utility bill once you are onboarded.
Absolutely nothing will change in regards to your monthly energy bills. You will still receive one invoice from your local utility.

There are two things that determine the rate of your electricity invoice: the amount of electricity your home or business uses during the month and the rate you pay per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for said electricity. Using energy saving light bulbs, thermometers, Energy Star appliances and smart sockets help in keeping your energy bills lower. Many energy-saving tips are available here: www.energystar.gov.
Yes, The Energy Professor makes sure to provide a renewable energy option in every state we operate in.
If you’re on a fixed contract and moving to a new address within the same service territory, The Energy Professor can assist with transferring your electricity service.
If you are moving out of your current service territory, The Energy Professor can help you cancel the service with your current provider. Please keep in mind there might be a early termination fee from your energy supplier depending on the type of plan you are on.
You can simply call or email your energy supplier and request to cancel your existing contract. Please keep in mind some suppliers might charge an early termination fee.
If you are within 30 days of your contract ending you can sign up for our membership and schedule to switch to your new plan without having to pay an early termination fee.
